How to replace the ThinkPad SL500 Laptop CPU Cooling Fan?
Replacing the noisy laptop fan keeps the unit from overheating, shutting down unexpectedly and making noise. Replacement for Lenovo ThinkPad SL500 fans are relatively inexpensive. Replacing the laptop cpu fan is a very simple process.
1)Power off your laptop and remove the laptop charger. Disconnect any devices, such as USB devices or external DVD-ROM or drive.
2)Unplug the laptop battery. Turn the laptop over, pull the battery out of the laptop.
3)Remove the hard drive cover, PCI memory cover, optical drive cover etc.
4)Use a keyboard release switches to unscrew the screws and remove the keyboard, then, unplug the ThinkPad SL500 fan cable.
5)Close the laptop and turn it over so it is bottom up. Unscrew the display assembly screws located under the laptop screen hinges then remove it.
6)Unplug the original fan cable from the circuit board. Unscrew the screws holding the ThinkPad SL500 fan assembly. Remove the old cpu fan from the laptop.
7)Insert the new replacement for Lenovo ThinkPad SL500 cooling fan assembly into the laptop. Screw the assembly unit to the laptop and plug the cooling fan cable into the circuit board.
8)Fix the laptop by repeating the previous steps.
